This role is designed for those who thrive in a flexible, remote work setting. Regular hours will be Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, determining their specific counseling needs and developing personalized treatment plans.
• Provide both individual and group therapy sessions aimed at addressing emotional challenges associated with aging, including grief, anxiety, and life transitions.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to create comprehensive care plans that integrate physical and mental health services.
• Educate caregivers and family members about mental health issues faced by seniors, providing them with effective strategies to support emotional well-being.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling for clients and their families, assisting them as they navigate end-of-life issues and transitions.
• Implement cognitive stimulation and mental health interventions that promote mental acuity and improve overall cognitive function in older adults.
• Regularly document client progress and treatment efficacy to ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in mental health practice.

The focus of this position is on the geriatric population, including elderly individuals facing a host of mental health challenges related to aging. These can range from chronic illness, loss of loved ones, to adjustments in living situations. • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification in New York State.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent mental health counseling experience, specifically focused on geriatric populations.
• Additional training or specialization in geriatric mental health and aging-related counseling techniques.
• Proficient understanding of evidence-based interventions tailored for older adults.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with senior clients and their families.

• Experience delivering therapeutic services in a community health setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.

• Familiarity with health information technology software used for documenting client interactions.
