Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their specific needs and developing tailored treatment plans.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to address mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment disorders associated with aging.
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to create an integrated care approach for geriatric residents.
• Provide education to families and caregivers on enhancing emotional well-being and effective communication strategies for supporting elderly loved ones.
• Offer specialized grief counseling to help clients and their families navigate the complex emotions surrounding loss and end-of-life issues.
• Design and implement engaging cognitive stimulation programs aimed at improving mental acuity and promoting emotional health among senior clients.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on providing mental health support to older adults, particularly those facing significant life transitions, loss of loved ones, and various age-related mental health issues. You will be working with a diverse group of clients, coming from various cultural backgrounds, which requires a high level of cultural sensitivity and adaptability in your counseling approach.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license.
• A minimum of four years of professional experience in mental health counseling, specifically with geriatric populations.
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatments and methodologies relevant to geriatric mental health.
• Exceptional communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with elderly clients and their families.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $65,000 to $95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with the potential for a sign-on bonus.
