ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
1. Skill in providing oral and written presentations;
2. Familiarity with MS Office Applications, especially MS Word;
3. Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and techniques in the areas of speech/language, auditory processing, feedings, and social language disorders;
4. Knowledge of appropriate evaluative tools and techniques used in conjunction with the various disorders, such as clinical evaluation of language fundamentals, tests of problem solving and language sampling;
5. Knowledge of professional code of ethics;
6. Knowledge of group and personal dynamics;
7. Knowledge of appropriate state and federal laws and relations related to the speech/language area;
8. Knowledge of review and augmentation and alternative communication systems, and assistive technology;

To provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services to students three years old through eighth grade who are in need of such services.ย This involves identifying; evaluating and treating students with speech/language, auditory processing, feeding and social language disorders which significantly impact the student's ability to participate successfully in education, vocational, community and home environments.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.ย ย ย ย ย Direct Services
ย
A.ย ย ย Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Illinois State Board of Education Rules and Regulations and the Response to Instruction (RTI) process.
B.ย ย ย Conducts screening procedures for the purpose of identifying individuals who may need speech and language evaluation, and participates in the Response to Instruction process and is responsible for implementing interventions and monitoring student progress, as needed.
C.ย ย ย Implements referrals to acquire various services, and conducts a speech and language evaluation, when appropriate, for the purpose of identifying individuals who may be eligible for services.
D.ย ย ย Conducts speech and language evaluations as part of case study evaluations and reevaluations.
E.ย ย ย Participates in conferences, (e.g. multidisciplinary, IEP, modification annual review, building base team, and PPS team) to achieve the purpose(s) of the conference.
F.ย ย ย Provides appropriate treatment to all students eligible for speech and language services as indicated in the student's IEP.

A.ย ย ย Provides consultation to school personnel, other agency professionals, and/or parents.
