The roles overlap in credentials and work environments but differ in scope and focus.

How does a Spatial Experience Designer typically collaborate with other professionals during a project?

Spatial Experience Designers work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, interior designers, engineers, and digital media specialists. Collaboration often involves regular meetings to align on project goals, exchanging feedback on design concepts, and integrating various technical and creative inputs to ensure a cohesive user experience. Effective communication and flexibility are crucial, as priorities may shift based on client feedback or technical constraints. These collaborations not only enhance the final outcome but also provide valuable opportunities for learning and professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Spatial Experience Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Spatial Experience Designer, you need a strong background in architecture, interior design, or environmental design, with proficiency in spatial planning and a relevant degree. Familiarity with 3D modeling software (like SketchUp, Rhino, or Revit), Adobe Creative Suite, and sometimes virtual or augmented reality tools is typically required. Exceptional creativity, user-centric thinking, and strong collaboration and communication skills help differentiate top designers. These skills ensure the creation of engaging, functional spaces that meet user needs and project goals.

What are Spatial Experience Designers?

Spatial Experience Designers are professionals who create and optimize physical environments to enhance how people interact with and experience spaces. They combine elements of architecture, interior design, technology, and user experience design to craft environments that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and emotionally engaging. Their work can be found in museums, retail stores, exhibitions, offices, and public spaces. By understanding human behavior and integrating digital or physical elements, they ensure spaces support the desired activities and evoke the intended feelings from users.

THE COMPANY
We are a fast-paced, creatively driven experiential marketing agency based in New York City, specialising in high-end brand activations for clients across the spirits, fashion, beauty, film, and luxury industries.
We are seeking a Junior Experiential Designer to join our creative team. This role is ideal for an emerging designer with a strong visual eye, technical design foundation, and interest in bringing immersive brand experiences to life. The position is remote, with a preference for candidates who can work closely with our NYC-based team and align with East Coast hours.
JOB SUMMARY
As a Junior Experiential Designer, you will support the design and development of immersive brand experiences, pop-ups, activations, events, and spatial environments. You will work closely with senior designers, creative leads, production, and account teams to help translate creative concepts into visual materials, renderings, floorplans, and presentation assets.
This is a growth-oriented role for someone who is eager to build their experiential design skills, contribute fresh ideas, and learn how creative concepts move from early ideation through client presentation and production.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the conceptualisation and design of immersive brand experiences, activations, pop-ups, events, and spatial environments.
  • Assist in creating mood boards, visual references, floorplans, mock-ups, renderings, and presentation materials.
  • Translate creative direction and client brand guidelines into thoughtful experiential design solutions.
  • Support senior designers in developing 2D and 3D design assets for internal reviews and client-facing presentations.
  • Collaborate with creative, production, and account teams to ensure design concepts are clear, visually compelling, and aligned with project goals.
  • Assist with design documentation, including layouts, material references, scenic details, and production support materials.
  • Revise and refine design work based on internal and client feedback.
  • Stay current on experiential design trends, materials, fabrication methods, visual culture, AI tools, and emerging creative technologies.
  • Support multiple projects at once while maintaining strong attention to detail and deadlines.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a creative and highly motivated junior designer who is excited by the world of experiential marketing and eager to grow within a fast-paced agency environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong design foundation, a polished visual eye, and the ability to communicate ideas clearly through renderings, layouts, and presentation materials. You should be curious, adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable collaborating with a larger creative team.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Experiential Design, Event Design, Exhibition Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in experiential design, event design, spatial design, interiors, architecture, scenic design, or a related creative field.
  • Internship or freelance experience within an agency, studio, event production company, or creative environment is a plus.
  • A strong portfolio showing spatial thinking, visual storytelling, rendering ability, and design process.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator required.
  • Strong presentation design and layout skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Rhino, Blender, SketchUp, Unreal Engine, or similar 3D modeling/rendering software preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, V-Ray, Enscape, or similar drafting/rendering tools is a plus.
  • Interest in AI tools and emerging creative technologies is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and remote collaboration tools.
  • Hand-sketching skills are a plus.
  • Basic understanding of production, fabrication, materials, and build methods is a plus.

SOFT SKILLS
  • Strong creative curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback thoughtfully.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort presenting design ideas internally.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced agency environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to grow within experiential design.

WHY JOIN US?
  • Work remotely with flexibility while collaborating with a talented NYC-based creative team.
  • Gain hands-on experience across high-end experiential marketing projects.
  • Work with prestigious clients across spirits, beauty, fashion, luxury, entertainment, and lifestyle categories.

  • Contribute to innovative brand experiences from concept through execution.
  • Join a dynamic and inclusive culture focused on creativity, collaboration, and growth.
