Job description

GIS Analyst
Location: Whittier, CA
Pay Rate: $45.00 - $55.00 per hour (DOE)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced GIS Analyst to support the management, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise geospatial data and mapping systems. This position will be heavily focused on editing and maintaining GIS geodatabases while supporting various GIS initiatives and data requests across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Esri GIS software, geodatabase management, and spatial data editing. Candidates with experience supporting utility infrastructure and Esri Utility Network environments are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Edit, maintain, and update GIS geodatabases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Create, manage, and maintain GIS datasets and related mapping products. 
  • Perform quality control and validation of spatial data. 
  • Support ongoing GIS operations, data maintenance, and mapping initiatives. 
  • Respond to ad hoc GIS requests and special projects as needed. 
  • Generate maps, reports, and spatial analyses to support business operations. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to collect, organize, and maintain geospatial information. 
  • Troubleshoot data issues and recommend process improvements.
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • 3-5 years of professional GIS Analyst experience.
  • Strong experience editing and maintaining GIS geodatabases. 
  • Hands-on experience with Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and related tools.
  • Experience creating and managing GIS data and mapping products. 
  • Strong understanding of geospatial data management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Esri Utility Network.
  • Utility industry experience, including electric, gas, water, wastewater, or telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting enterprise GIS environments.
  • Knowledge of spatial analysis and GIS best practices.
 
Technical Skills:
  • ArcGIS Pro.
  • Esri Geodatabase Management.
  • Spatial Data Editing & Maintenance. 
  • GIS Data Creation & Analysis.

We're seeking a GIS professional who is highly detail-oriented, comfortable working with large geospatial datasets, and capable of independently managing data editing and maintenance activities. The majority of this role will focus on geodatabase editing and GIS data management, making prior hands-on experience in these areas essential. Utility Network experience will be viewed as a significant advantage.
