Job Overview

Southview Design is hiring a Crew Leader! Join a winning team where you will lead Supervisors-in-Training and crew members in bringing stunning landscape projects to life. From plant installation and hardscaping (patios, walkways) to grading and irrigation systems, you will be the driving force behind our craftsmanship. In this role, you'll ensure every project meets our elite standards of quality and efficiency, completing work on time and within budget while prioritizing the safety and professional growth of your crew.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Communicate with Project Managers, design team, clients, and others to ensure a high level of communication, exceptional quality standards, and efficient job performance is consistently met.

  • Ensure daily administrative tasks (i.e. inventory tracking, time entry, DOT pre-trip, etc.) are completed promptly and accurately.

  • Assign tasks to crew members based on their skill level and the project requirements. Monitor crew performance and address any issues regarding quality or productivity.

  • Know all company procedures, safety, and personnel policies and ensure crew adheres to policies.

  • Lead and mentor crew members to successfully install projects to achieve high quality and productivity standards, safety compliance, and policy adherence.

  • Direct and teach proper installation and common horticulture practices to guarantee the quality of work performed meets company standards.

  • Read and interpret landscape plans and specifications (scaled measurements and elevations).

  • Coordinate material delivery and ensure sufficient supplies are on site. Anticipate when additional material will be needed, work with the Project Manager to ensure material is ordered in advance to stay on schedule and not slow down production.

  • Monitor project timelines, adjust schedules as needed. Organize the job schedule in advance to stay ahead of schedule. Direct team in loading and preparing for the next day.

  • Ensure work site is clean and organized, maintain a clean truck/trailer and uniform. Maintain and properly store landscaping equipment.

  • Ability to perform seasonal snow and ice removal tasks during winter months. Plowing, shoveling, salt applications, and various other duties as assigned. Supervise or manage areas/zones as desired with direction from snow management team.

  • Additional duties as assigned. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in the landscape industry, specifically within landscape construction (plant installation, hardscaping, and irrigation).

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate responsibilities, and provide constructive feedback.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe operation of landscape equipment and machinery.

  • Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and a creative approach to problem-solving and time management.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.

  • High School Diploma, College Degree or Certificate in Horticulture or a related field is preferred.

  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and remain active (walking, standing, kneeling, bending) for up to 100% of the workday.

  • Comfort working in various outdoor elements, including exposure to pollen, chemicals, and weather extremes.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is considered a significant asset.
