Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Spa and Pool Services the Supervisor, Spa Services provides leadership, direction and supervision of a team supporting the daily operations of the Hotel's beauty and wellness services, including, but not limited to, massage & skincare treatments, water sanctuary, and Spa facilities. Works closely with upper management to direct and mentor the Massage & Esthetician teams, optimize merchandise and service selections while maximizing Best in Class service, resulting in continued sales profit. Responsible for marketing, operational excellence, budgeting/forecasting and strong vendor relationships, as well as ensuring a clean and safe environment for all patrons, team members and vendors, while safeguarding enterprise assets and guaranteeing departmental integrity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Leads and supervises the Spa's treatment and water sanctuary areas of the Spa Operations Department's business plan to support enterprise initiatives, enhance guest experience, financial planning and profits, employee development, effective schedules, retention strategies, and operational excellence.
2. Assists in creating an environment that motivates team members to collaborate, learn, perform, and develop their skills. Develops high-performing team through thoughtful team member professional development, effective timely performance assessments and productive workflow processes. Identifies and provides feedback on objectives and assesses performance and service excellence. Creates a compliance culture and fosters an environment where team members feel empowered to report potential violations and/or misconduct. Promotes excellent guest/team member relationships by reacting promptly, efficiently, and courteously to all guest and team member concerns.
3. Collaborates with Department upper management in ongoing development and positioning of Spa treatment and service offerings in terms of overall concept definition, philosophy, service and product offerings. Reviews and refreshes product offering in line with current guest and industry global trends - anticipates and sets future trends. Assists with annual budget and forecast for Director/Manager. Assists with Inventory, Revenue and Margin Management related to Spa treatments and services.
4. Models and ensures team members uphold enterprise and Department policies and procedures as well as Standard Operating Procedures. Oversees day-to-day operations including product receiving, fulfillment, training/certification requirements, and policy and procedure compliance. Assists with maintaining strong loyalty wellness membership program.
5. Maintains high-performance work environment and provides leadership throughout areas of responsibility to insure optimum internal and external partner relationships. Works collaboratively with other departments to create unique events and promotions to attract high-level Casino guests. Proactively identifies various market opportunities; makes recommendations to Management regarding visual, branding and marketing strategies.
6. Oversees cleanliness, health and safety of all pool areas, furnishing and dispensary for professional Spa products.
7. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related industry required.

  • Minimum one (1) year of customer experience required. Spa/Salon hotel or resort experience preferred.

  • Minimum one (1) year of supervisory/management experience preferred.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally across all levels of the enterprise.

  • Must have good presentation skills.

  • Must have excellent writing skills and strong computers skills covering Microsoft Office applications as well as all compliance applications.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Professional Massage Therapy certificate or Esthetician certificate in California preferred.

  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver's license or insurance.

  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.

  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.

  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
