Job Summary

As the Field/Mobile Mechanic, you will ultimately be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty construction equipment and fleet vehicles in the field. You will travel to job sites to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and complete repairs that keep construction operations running safely and efficiently. Your customers are Congruex field crews and operations teams, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through equipment reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)

  • Travel to job sites to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty construction equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Perform preventative maintenance, routine servicing, and major mechanical repairs on construction equipment
  • Diagnose equipment issues using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Replace faulty components and repair damaged equipment to minimize downtime
  • Clean, lubricate, and service equipment, attachments, saws, blades, and vacuum systems
  • Report equipment deficiencies and maintenance recommendations to management while collaborating with other mechanics as needed
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and drug screen
  • Steel or composite toe over-the-ankle boots required

Experience

  • Proven experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, or mobile field mechanic
  • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty construction equipment

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to inspect, repair, and maintain construction equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work after-hours when operational needs require
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience servicing underground utility or construction equipment
  • Hydraulic, diesel engine, electrical, and preventative maintenance experience
  • CDL or additional heavy equipment certifications preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment
  • Ability to safely operate service vehicles and work in active construction environments
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including steel/composite toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and other required safety equipment
  • Must be able to pass applicable pre-employment screenings including background check, MVR, and drug test
