Job description

Manager, Infrastructure & Hosting

The State and Federal group within Tyler Technologies, Infrastructure team is responsible for procuring, building, and implementing core infrastructure and tools for Tyler Technologies centrally managed data centers. This includes monitoring, and troubleshooting activities associated with the core infrastructure. The environment consists of Cisco networking, Checkpoint firewalls, VMware, Cisco UCS, Pure storage, Linux, and Windows Operating Systems.

The Infrastructure Manager will manage a team of engineers that will build and deploy solutions in the datacenter and the cloud with the goal of high availability delivered through redundant design, risk averse processes and effective change management policy.

  • Manage a multi-faceted team of cloud engineers, system engineers, and database admins.
  • Lead project planning meetings and work with project teams to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Disaster Recovery plans, documents and scripts. Regularly test to ensure service MTTR is optimized in the event of failures.
  • Manage the team responsible for Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, O365, SSO, Windows OS, SharePoint, Microsoft SQL, and Cloud Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages the planning, creation and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
  • Manages and improves team response time and technical issue resolution times.
  • Participates in the Change Control Board and approves necessary infrastructure and DevOps changes.
  • Facilitates collaboration between infrastructure, dev‑ops, and application developers to properly automate software build, test and deploy.
  • Manages the research and implementation of future technologies.
  • Demonstrable understanding of relevant principles, best practices and industry standards to deliver best in class solutions.
  • Manages and appropriately escalates delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes associated to the product development initiatives.
  • Displays technical leadership and oversight of system engineering, operations and service delivery.
  • Partner with Security Operations team to ensure compliance with Corporate Security Standards and Policies, including Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI‑DSS) as required.
  • Defining and maintaining monitoring solutions.
  • Managing performance monitoring, scheduling, environment architecture and more.
  • Identifies technical and process improvement opportunities and socialize/advocate to get them implemented.
  • Resolves conflicts by demonstrating leadership and appropriate decision‑making competencies.
  • Works closely with the Service Delivery team to understand capacity projections and to define usage requirements for the consumption of their applications.
  • Works with Internal Audit to ensure compliance of audit requirements and audit tasks are responded to in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor's degree and 10 years of IT Systems Engineering and Operations experience is preferred for this position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of engineers, developers, product owners, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience with infrastructure life cycle, common data center concepts, automated management and monitoring.
  • Experience in Cloud and on‑premises hosted solutions stacks.
  • Significant proven experience working in multi‑OS environments (OEL, RHEL, CentOS, Windows 2012 and newer).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP concepts.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and understand complex problems/issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with teams both remote and local.
  • Self‑motivation driving continuous improvement.
BONUS PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • ITIL Certification and/or experience.
  • Experience with E‑Commerce projects, specifically online payment engines and/or credit card transactions.
  • Experience with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI‑DSS).
  • Familiarity with various audits (SOC/SOC2, SOX, PCI) the business is required to complete.
  • Experience managing Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Ability to perform application portfolio analysis to identify candidate applications and workloads for migration to the Cloud.
  • Experience establishing detailed Cloud migration project plans and executing against them.
  • Experience implementing Configuration‑as‑code and Infrastructure‑as‑code.
  • Knowledge of container technologies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
  • This position will supervise a team of 5‑12 direct reports (local and remote).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Participate in a manager on duty on‑call rotation.
  • Ability to adapt schedule to work earlier or later hours during the week, some weekend work, as needed.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • This position will be required to sit at a desk and routinely use personal computer, keyboard, mouse, etc. for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally, there could be a need to lift items weighing no more than 25 lbs.
