Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced, motivated, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy Solar Service Technician who can hit the ground running with little additional training needed and become an immediate asset to our team. This position pays 10% commision on all sales, plus hourly.

**If you do not have extensive experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting solar systems, please do not apply.

**If your background is primarily in installation or roofing (e.g., as an installer or roof lead), this position is not a match. We're looking for someone who can independently manage advanced service calls, warranty repairs, and complex system diagnostics from day one. This is a specialized service role, not an installation position.

Summary/Objective
The Solar Service Technician is responsible for servicing existing residential PV systems. This includes diagnosing inverter and battery faults, processing RMAs, performing component replacements and system expansions, and working with equipment from a variety of manufacturers. The technician will perform testing, commissioning, and routine string testing, as well as complete wiring and torquing of terminations.

While many tasks follow defined procedures, this role frequently requires troubleshooting unfamiliar or complex issues. Service Technicians travel daily to field sites and must be comfortable working independently while interfacing directly with clients.

Core Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve inverter, battery, optimizer, and module issues
Replace solar equipment and perform system expansions
Conduct site surveys and complete system quality inspections
Perform string testing and irradiance testing
Commission and recommission solar PV systems
Maintain and troubleshoot wiring and electrical terminations
Interface with customers to explain findings, options, and next steps
Complete timely and accurate field reports and documentation
Follow OSHA safety standards and company-specific PPE requirements
Maintain company tools, vehicles, and inventory
Collaborate with team members and support company goals
Perform additional tasks as directed by leadership
Competencies

High-level diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly, including over the phone with engineers
Strong customer service presence and communication
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently
Mechanical and electrical aptitude
Proficient in solar technology, safety requirements, and wiring fundamentals
Able to follow specific instructions and write clear, detailed field reports
Comfortable working at heights and on rooftops
Strong time management and prioritization in a fast-paced service environment
Required Education and Experience

Minimum 3 years of hands-on solar service experience *REQUIRED*
6+ years of total solar experience strongly preferred
Must be certified and experienced with: Enphase (inverters, batteries), SolarEdge (inverters, optimizers), Panasonic Evervolt, Tesla, SMA, SunPower, and similar systems
High school diploma or GED required
Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record
