Position Description:
The Solace House Counselor works as a member of the Hospice team to provide individual and family therapy, in an office and/or community setting, to clients seeking counseling for grief, traumatic grief issues, and adjustment to serious illness. The Solace House Counselor participates in programs that provide grief support and education for community members in the Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care service delivery area.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required, with motivation to work with the dying and bereaved.
  • Valid, unencumbered Social Work licensure (LMSW, MO-LCSW, or KS-LSCSW) in Kansas and Missouri required; may be substituted with Clinical Counseling licensure (MO-LPC; KS-LCPC) in Kansas and Missouri.
  • Minimum two (2) years post Master's professional experience in Social Work or Counseling preferred.
  • Prior, relevant experience providing grief counseling and/or bereavement services in a hospice setting preferred.
  • Experience supporting children and adults in a service agency or private practice required; professional experience with Play, Art or Bibliotherapy preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical judgment and decision making based on knowledge of social work or counseling practices, techniques, and ethics required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required; working knowledge of Google Suite, preferred.

Prior working knowledge of Electronic Medical Systems (EMRs) required; prior experience with Suncoast preferred.
