F-22 Mission Software Engineering Manager

The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineering Manager (Level K) located in Berkeley, Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Software Engineering organization.

The Mission Software Manager is responsible for the leadership of a team of software engineers that develop flight software and infrastructure software (simulation and modeling) for the F-22 Raptor. This position reports to the Senior Software Engineering Manager and works alongside other software teams as well as many other cross-functional organizations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Accountable for delivery of program software products within cost and schedule
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals
  • Responsible for leading process improvement initiatives in the following areas: Agile, DevSecOps, and Design Practice roll out
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees
  • Leads development and delivery of operational flight program (OFP) software in a special access program (SAP) environment
  • Effectively communicates with customers, partners, program management and engineering personnel
  • Recruits qualified engineering talent
  • Mitigates risk and resolves issues
  • Coaches, counsels, and provides developmental opportunities to expand capabilities of engineering team

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree
  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course "Exploring Leadership"
  • Experience leading a software development team through the full software lifecycle
  • 1+ years of experience with software development processes
  • Experience with Agile and/or SAFe Principles & Methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Mission systems or software experience on Boeing fighter platforms
  • Experience working in a partnership relationship either internal or external to Boeing
  • Experience with Mission Critical elements of military aircraft
  • Experience with the life cycle of development and test of flight software products
  • Experience with EVM (Earned Value Management) experience

Travel: Some travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
