Job Description Software Asset Management (SAM) & License Compliance Consultant Location: Chandler, AZ | Charlotte, NC | Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid) Duration: 24-Month Contract-to-Hire Rate: $65-$70+ per hour for contract period. Interview Process: 1-2 Virtual Interviews Overview We are seeking an experienced Software Asset Management (SAM) & License Compliance Consultant to support enterprise software governance, license compliance, software asset optimization, and audit readiness initiatives within a large-scale technology environment. This role will be responsible for performing software license compliance analysis, interpreting software contracts and licensing agreements, improving software asset data quality, supporting audit activities, and identifying software optimization opportunities.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with hands-on experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), software licensing, and compliance operations. The position will work closely with technology, procurement, vendor management, finance, and leadership teams to ensure software assets are accurately tracked, compliant, and optimized across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities Software Asset Management & License Compliance Perform software license compliance analysis and determine enterprise compliance positions Execute software license reconciliations across strategic and non-strategic vendors Identify and remediate over-deployment, under-utilization, and compliance risks Support governance activities related to Software Asset Management (SAM) and Software License Compliance (SLC) Software Contract Analysis & Licensing Analyze software contracts, maintenance agreements, and licensing terms Interpret licensing models, entitlements, restrictions, and compliance requirements Apply licensing rules to operational environments and deployment scenarios Track contract deliverables, renewals, maintenance obligations, and certifications Asset Data Management & Analysis Research, analyze, and validate software asset data Investigate and resolve software inventory and entitlement discrepancies Support software catalog management and lifecycle tracking activities Improve data quality across discovery, inventory, and entitlement systems Audit Readiness & Compliance Support internal and external software audits Prepare audit documentation and compliance evidence Validate software compliance positions and licensing calculations Maintain audit trails and supporting documentation Optimization & Cost Management Identify opportunities for software optimization and cost reduction Analyze software usage and consumption trends Recommend licensing and deployment adjustments Support software spend optimization initiatives Process & Tool Support Utilize ServiceNow and related workflow tools to support SAM processes Execute compliance tracking, reconciliation, and governance workflows Maintain operational procedures and process documentation Required Qualifications 5+ years of technology, Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or software licensing experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience with: Software Asset Management (SAM) IT Asset Management (ITAM) Software License Compliance Software License Reconciliation Software Contract Analysis Software Audits Strong understanding of: Software licensing models Contract interpretation License compliance concepts Software entitlement management Experience with data analysis, research, troubleshooting, and reconciliation activities Experience using ServiceNow or similar asset management/workflow platforms Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting skills Preferred Qualifications Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) certification or equivalent Experience supporting medium-scale technology initiatives Experience influencing stakeholders and senior leadership Strong presentation and communication skills Prior experience in enterprise Software Asset Management or License Management functions Artificial Intelligence Experience Demonstrated experience utilizing AI-enabled tools, including: Microsoft Copilot Copilot Studio Claude Gemini Tachyon or similar AI-assisted productivity platforms Desired Backgrounds Candidates with experience from large enterprise organizations, financial services firms, technology companies, consulting organizations, software vendors, or highly regulated environments are strongly preferred.
