POSITION PURPOSE:
The Engineering Manager will lead a team of project, manufacturing engineers, and maintenance employees in identifying and completing projects and repairs that support our manufacturing site. The engineering team's role is to also introduce new technology to the company for use in the plant.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to excel at the essential functions assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Experience
* 5-10 years as an engineer in an industrial environment
* 3+ years in an engineering management role
* Completion of a variety of capital projects in an industrial setting
* Demonstrated project management/leadership roles with complete project ownership
* Experience managing internal maintenance staff and external contractors on a project basis
* Previous experience with complying with regulated environments (i.e. OSHA, EPA)
Skills
* Highly energized and motivated with experience working with teams to implement change.
* Knowledge of and experience with Lean and Six-Sigma processes
* Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment
* Highly-detail oriented and must be able to work independently
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required
* Strong planning, time management, and prioritization skills
Education
* Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Develop and maintain a project engineering team to meet the needs of the plant and successfully execute needed projects
* Lead and manage a team of project engineers to improve manufacturing operations to improve safety and reduce cost and lead time through capital and technology projects
* Identify project opportunities, vet ideas, and lead/participate in projects from concept to implementation and commissioning.
* Types of projects include equipment replacement/upgrade, new application of technologies, and process and equipment development
* The engineering team has ownership of projects from start to finish:
o Engineering: user requirements, engineering specifications, test documents, RFP/RFQ, purchase agreements, acceptance criteria
o Financial: budget development, creation of capital authorization request documents, and execution/tracking of project spending
* Projects will be for a manufacturing environment and could include: automation/robotic material movement, processing equipment, process control systems, and facility automation systems
* The Engineering Manager will often act as project manager and lead cross functional teams on high level projects that are critical to the business
* Act as a leader, influencer, and consultant for the plant-level engineering groups in the manufacturing facilities for capital projects, engineering and maintenance organizational planning, and maintenance activities and methods
