We want to find an innovative, adaptable, and strategic Software Engineering Manager for our Maximo teamThis position can be located in Waltham, MA, Brooklyn, NY, Albany, NY, or Syracuse, NY (candidates may also reside in either Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Maine). What you'll do
As a Software Engineering Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of a new MAS 9 Maximo system for National Grid Electric Operations (STREAMS). You'll collaborate closely with the selected Systems Integrator (SI) to ensure that infrastructure and application delivery align National Grid standards and guidelines and meet projected timelines. Upon completion of the implementation, the role will transition to overseeing ongoing support for the platform, including environment support and delivery of enhancements and fixes across various business capabilities such as Work Management and Execution, Emergency and Outage Management, and Inspections and Maintenance for Electric Operations. Key responsibilities include the following:
  • Lead the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications, ensuring strict oversight of technical design and adherence to standards.
  • Lead the support and upkeep of all associated environments and manage daily operations in alignment with SLA's related to system availability.
  • Direct the deployment and activities of the team, facilitating the resolution of issues and ensuring alignment with support teams and business units.
  • Collaborate with business partners and stakeholders to identify requirements and opportunities for application modifications that support strategic objectives.
  • Prioritize competing demands in alignment with organizational goals and return on investment (ROI).
  • Drive the development and optimization of a continuous delivery release model.
  • Ensure successful delivery of key capital project implementations and a seamless transition to steady-state support.
  • Oversee outsourced managed services and cloud/hosted contract SLAs related to application operations.
  • Develop application monitoring strategies for performance optimization and proactive issue resolution.
  • Evaluate root cause solutions to eliminate technical debt and improve system reliability.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key clients and business partners.
  • Utilize performance metrics to demonstrate improvements in service delivery and SLA adherence.
  • Guide stakeholders toward solutions that maximize National Grid's investment in technology.
  • Build and lead a high-performing support team and effective support model.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX mandated controls and understand supported business processes to aid decision-making.
  • Lead and influence architectural decisions while managing maintenance, service, and project costs.
  • Manage all labor and non-labor cost in accordance with annual budget, maximizing opportunities for cost savings where possible.

About you
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of application support experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience managing outsourced IT managed services providers.
  • Experience supporting IBM Maximo v7.6 or higher with integrations to mobile systems (e.g. Salesforce, CLICK, etc.).
  • Previous experience managing and leading Maximo development teams, with strong evidence of utilizing best practices.
  • Proficient with Maximo concepts such as automation scripts, MIF integration framework, MBO objects, utilities add on, and associated infrastructure and architecture.
  • Experience with Maximo application implementations and upgrades.
  • Experience with delivering fixes/enhancements in Maximo an agile delivery model with coordination to partner systems.
  • Experience with supporting IBM Maximo MAS 8/9 in a cloud hosted environment (e.g. MS Azure), and strong knowledge of containerization including redhat openshift (RHOS) or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience of database concepts in DB2 or Oracle.
  • Experience with utilizing and optimizing CICD pipelines for delivery and environment management.
  • Experience supporting COTS and other application software solutions, with a focus on Enterprise Asset Management implementations in mid to large-scale enterprises.
  • Strong experience with developing or architecting integrations to external systems such as SAP, Salesforce, GIS, etc.
