Our software engineering team is responsible for software requirement development, software test and integration, application and embedded code with C# and C/C++, Windows/Linux based development for autonomous maritime vehicles. Assist with managing and directing the day-to-day activities of the Software Engineering Group, make individual work assignments, monitor individual performance and provide technical direction to individuals in the Group and to program teams. Perform difficult work on highly technical or involved projects. Review and approve formal documentation for release. Estimate labor, capacity, tools, equipment and other resources to operate and adhere to budget and schedule commitments

Essential Functions:
  • Leading the software design and development processes including requirements analysis, specifications, design, implementation and development.
  • Driving efficient processes, creating best practices for software development as well as performing code and design reviews.
  • Collaborating with other engineering discipline managers to ensure effective product development.
  • Identifying and establishing development processes and standards to enhance productivity and performance of the team.
  • Contribute to development of new and innovative technologies and processes, including idea submission for internal research and development (IRAD) investments and execution of funded IRAD and Internal Order projects
  • Define capital, tools, equipment and other resources required by the Software Engineering Team
  • Providing mentorship, coaching and guidance to team members with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.
  • Conducting performance evaluations of engineers
  • Managing the recruitment interview and hiring process for additional software engineers.
  • Participating in Engineering Proposal cost estimation and Basis of Estimate efforts
  • Manage organization manpower allocation
Qualifications:
  • US Citizen, require and maintain a DoD clearance
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree (A Master’s degree is desired but not required) with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience
  • Must be able to contribute independently to software requirements development, software testing and integration, and application and embedded software development using C#, C, and C++, with an understanding of both Windows and Linux based development.
  • Requires management and leadership knowledge in job area. Has comprehensive knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline and may have broad understanding of other areas within the job function
  • Experience with recruiting and hiring technical talent
  • Experience developing technical and cost volume inputs for proposals.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager utilizing EVMS, Program execution lifecycle
  • Able to travel up to 10%
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Experience working within an Agile development environment is highly desirable. Scrum Team certification and/or experience with Jira.
  • Experience leading proposal development and Basis of Estimate generation
  • Experience with DevOps process, tools, and procedures is highly desirable.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is [$135,000 MIN - $250,500 MAX].This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
