Job description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the condition and repair of all equipment and processes. In addition, this position is a critical part of the continuous improvement efforts of the department. Core expectations of this position include helping to develop annual maintenance budgets, working within those budgets to keep equipment and processes running at peak performance, maintaining a cost-effective spare parts inventory to minimize downtime, coordinating the preventative maintenance program, training maintenance technicians including recommendations for additional skills development, and leading efficiency improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities (What/How):
Foster a continuous improvement environment by evaluating and recommending on-going quality and efficiency improvements as it relates to process/engineering/formulation changes, machinery, documentation, machine utilization, and safety best practices
Mentoring Maintenance Lead Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Supervisors, and operators, as needed.
Assist in the development of departmental strategic business and capital plans by identifying, implementing and tracking profit improvements
Develop and maintain a capable, flexible, and motivated workforce by continuous education, cross-training, compliance training and maximizing employee effectiveness Oversight of day-to-day responsibilities: safety, quality, cost, service, and compliance
Responsible for key measures/accountability: OSHA safety statistics, rejects/holds, direct cost per unit, yields, direct and material cost variances, and audit results
Communicate to all levels of the organization so that all employees understand company and departmental objectives and have clear expectations of performance.
Evaluate machines/processes to determine if new or modified equipment is needed to meet manufacturing forecasts and to improve utilization, effectiveness, and reject rates through analysis and reduction or elimination of root cause issues.
Oversee annual standards reviews so that system information is as accurate as possible
Maintaining Production Maintenance Preventative Maintenance Program: Includes but not limited to writing new PMs in Dynaway to properly maintain equipment, keeping up with generated PMs on equipment from Dynaway, minimizing late PMs for equipment, optimizing equipment PMs
Manage Production Maintenance Work Order System: Includes but not limited to scheduling Oversight of day-to-day responsibilities: safety, quality, cost, service, and compliance

Provide optimum training, processes, tools and systems, as well as sufficient and flexible capacities to meet schedule requirements and support customer service requirements
Ensure all employees are properly trained and adhere to company policies, procedures, regulatory and compliance requirements
Core Competencies:
B.S. degree in Engineering field
Statistical proficiency, prefer Black Belt trained
Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Dynamics, drafting software)
10 yrs. experience in nonwovens or hygiene product manufacturing
Behavioral Competencies:
Strong team player and motivated problem solver; Excellent troubleshooting skills
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to constructively interact with others to resolve issues and improve the operation
Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
Strong understanding of budgetary development and management
Technical Competencies:
Comprehensive knowledge of machinery (mechanical & electrical level) combined with the ability to trouble shoot and problem solve if direct reports need assistance
Proficiency in programming PLC systems (AB, GE, etc.)
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, control budgets, provide accurate project estimates, and assist others outside their area of responsibility
Must possess sound organizational, decision making, leadership and motivational skills
Self-starter able to work with minimal oversight of the department manager
Must possess confidence in making recommendations to senior management on large capital purchases, as the subject matter expert
Physical Demands: This position requires frequent lifting and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or move up to 25 pounds. The position requires frequent lifting, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under extreme temperatures. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
