Job description

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is seeking an Alumni Advocacy Intern to work 10-15 hours per week. The position will assist the WFAA alumni advocacy program working, event planning, writing, and web content development.   This internship will include assisting with virtual and in-person events, writing communication content, and updating advocacy web presence.

This position is a hybrid role and will require you to work in the office at least two days per week at the Wisconsin Alumni Association office located at 650 Lake Street in Madison, WI.

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association is a private, nonprofit corporation that encourages individuals and organizations to make gifts to the university and to connect with the UW. In 2014, the UW Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Associationยฎ to better serve a growing population of UW alumni and donors. We believe that private support grows out of good relationships between campus leaders, faculty and program staff who need support, and the alumni and friends who want to invest in UWโ€“Madison. We provide important engagement opportunities to link UWโ€“Madison alumni to each other and to their alma mater, building a strong community of Badgers.

Program and Event Management:

  • Assist with planning and execution of UW-Madison Day events in Washington DC and Madison.
  • Assist with coordinating events for alumni advocacy during peak times.
  • Collaborate with UW Office of Government Affairs on key advocacy issues.

Marketing & Communication:

  • Write stories and update content for Advocacy newsletter and other communications.
  • Maintain and update web pages.
  • Assist in managing alumni advocacy software.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Market Research & Data Analysis:

  • Manage alumni data.
  • Compile data for analysis.
  • Perform analysis of program metrics.
  • Maintain a tracking report of program activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program.
  • Event planning experience.
  • Knowledge and experience managing data.
  • Strong writing skills.

 Other Qualifications

  • Background and knowledge of public policy and politics is strongly preferred.
  • Research acumen.
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a small team environment.
  • Disciplined self-starter who regularly sets and achieves work goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office.
