Job description

Job Summary:
Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe. They are seeking an experienced Endpoint Software Configuration Management Engineer to join their national intelligence program, focusing on engineering, application development, deployment, and operations of products and services.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, analyze, and maintain tools that support and automate processes for hardware or software product release.
• Write installation scripts and programs for installation of products.
• Work with project teams to determine appropriate build schedules and then initiate the build and packaging process.
• Compile and assemble software from source code.
• Ensure tools are stored in source control.
• Support developers for software package registry and delivery.
• Work with others to complete analysis, evaluations, and design alternatives and to implement process improvements.
• Work with development engineers to correct build errors.
• Manage source code repositories and ensure adherence to version control best practices.
• Automate the software build, test, and deployment processes to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Design and implement release pipelines to ensure smooth and reliable software rollouts.
• Train and mentor team members on the software build and continuous integration process and tools.
• Support new application features and maintain environments.
• Serve as gatekeeper, ensuring that code transitions smoothly from development to operational environments, while maintaining configuration control, integrity and reliability of the product.
• Work jointly with engineering, operations and quality assurance to ensure that software builds are created, tested, and deployed efficiently and reliably to meet schedules and dependency requirements.
• Maintain documentation related to release procedures, configurations, and modifications.
• Develop and enforce policies for hotfixes and emergency releases.
• Track and report on release metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Facilitate communication across teams and stakeholders to keep everyone informed about release statuses and timelines.
• Manage environment configurations, including deployment and rollback procedures for multiple environments.
• Stay current with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies to continuously refine and improve the release process.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to pass and obtain a Poly clearance.
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree and 6 years of relevant experience or PhD with 3 years relevant experience or a High School diploma and 12 years of relevant work experience in the IT field).
• Knowledge of Application Server architecture in a large enterprise environment.
• Experience administering application server architectures in large enterprise environments.
• Understanding of web technologies include application and web servers, load balancers, browsers, protocols, data formats, markup and programming languages, and SSL.
• Familiarity with the Linux command line and basic Linux architecture.
• Ability to troubleshoot Java-based web applications.
• Shell and/or Python scripting experience.
• Working knowledge of database technologies such as Oracle and SQL.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to customers and senior leaders.
Preferred:
• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearances.
• CISSP or Security+ Certification.
• Deep understanding of infrastructure as code principles and the use of technologies such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt.
• Knowledge of Apache web server administration.
• Knowledge of identity management solutions such as Oracle IAM or RH-SSO (Keycloak) is a plus.
• Experience with load balancing technologies such as HA Proxy is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins is a plus.
• Familiarity with container orchestration and VMWare is a plus.
