The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
The Critical Infrastructure Group (CIG) within JOID provides technical, programmatic and analytical support to customers with missions in national security to include the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Group brings technical and operational expertise in fields of countering weapons of mass destruction, critical infrastructure protection, emergency response, nuclear non-proliferation, weapons deployment programs, and transportation safety. In addition to management and advisory services, CIG staff collaborate closely with our clients to provide high-quality modeling, simulation, software, and analytical products to meet the most demanding government standards and timelines.
SPA has an upcoming need for a Data Analyst to provide hybrid support in Northern Virginia.
Responsibilities
The candidate will work with a team of data architects, data analysts, and cost analysts to support the Department of Homeland Security in developing and implementing a data management and analysis solution for government cost and acquisition analysts. Will apply rational, systematic, science-based techniques, advanced analytical methods, and critical thinking to help inform clients and to improve decision-making in complex processes. Obtain, integrate, and report client data, and develop and apply analytic methodologies and principles. Lead the application of analytic techniques and help define project objectives and strategic direction. Resolve complex problems which require an in-depth knowledge of analytic methodologies and principles. Create and promulgate data collection templates, maintain databases, and work with various analytical tools. Analyze acquisition data, formulate conclusions and recommendations, design and develop materials, and evaluate effectiveness in accordance with stated guidelines, speculations, and models. Conduct research, data gathering, and technical reviews. Produce written deliverables to include reports, spreadsheets, databases, formal process mapping, technical design, system testing, and implementation activities. Troubleshoot issues in reports related to data and assimilating, integrating, and interfacing technical knowledge with business/system requirements. Manage client relationships and expectations.
Qualifications
Required:
  • U.S. Citizen and eligible for a DHS suitability clearance
  • 2+ years of professional experience in the area of data science or data engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or Mathematics with 24 semester credit hours in quantitative analysis
  • Validated analytical, creative, and effective problem solving skills, with the ability to present solutions both in written and oral format
  • Solid understanding of applying mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods to real world problems

Desired:
  • Experience using R, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Experience using ACEIT
  • Active DHS suitability or DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience with DoD or Coast Guard acquisition programs
