What is a social tech?

Social Tech jobs refer to careers that combine technology with social impact, focusing on using digital tools, platforms, and innovations to address societal challenges. Professionals in this field may work on projects related to social media, digital inclusion, online community building, or developing tech solutions for non-profits and social enterprises. These roles often require both technical skills and a passion for making a positive difference in areas like education, health, equality, and community engagement.

What are some common challenges faced by social tech professionals when implementing new digital tools within organizations?

Social Tech professionals often face challenges such as resistance to change from team members, ensuring data privacy and security, and integrating new technologies with existing systems. Successfully navigating these obstacles requires strong communication skills, a clear understanding of organizational needs, and collaboration with IT and HR departments. Staying updated on industry trends and conducting thorough training sessions can also help ease transitions and promote adoption of new digital tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a social tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Social Tech, you need a solid understanding of social media platforms, digital marketing strategies, and analytics, often supported by a relevant degree or certification in digital marketing or communications. Familiarity with content management systems, social media scheduling tools, and data analytics platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or Google Analytics is typically required. Creativity, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills help you engage audiences and collaborate effectively within teams. These skills are crucial for driving online engagement, building brand presence, and achieving organizational marketing goals.

Job description

We are seeking a fast-paced, highly creative, and organized Social Media Coordinator to join our agency team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day social media operations for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will serve as the bridge between client goals and creative execution—handling everything from content scheduling and community management to tracking metrics and drafting client-facing performance reports. If you love variety, thrive under deadlines, and can seamlessly switch between different brand voices, you’ll fit right in.

This position is Part-Time and In Person at our office locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Multi-Brand Content Management: Coordinate, schedule, and publish daily content across multiple client social media accounts, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict adherence to individual brand guidelines.
  • Content Creation: Conceptualize, produce, edit, and publish high-quality daily content (engaging copy, vertical video, graphics) that fosters connection and encourages audience action. Collaborate with internal designers, copywriters, and video editors to produce high-quality social assets (graphics, reels, TikToks, and copy).
  • Campaign Scheduling: Own the multi-channel editorial calendar, ensuring a consistent and strategic publishing cadence.
  • Community Engagement: Actively monitor and moderate client social channels—responding to comments, managing direct messages.
  • Client Reporting: Gather and analyze data from various social platforms to help build comprehensive monthly performance reports, highlighting key wins, engagement metrics, and strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Trend Spotting: Keep a constant pulse on trending audio, viral formats, and algorithm changes across TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn to proactively pitch fresh content ideas for our client roster.
  • Account Coordination: Support the Project Management team by tracking client feedback, managing approval workflows, and ensuring editorial calendars are updated and approved on time.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Agency Agility: Proven ability to manage multiple projects, switch between distinct brand voices, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Platform Fluency: In-depth knowledge of business management tools across major social networks (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook).
  • Social Tech Stack: Experience using social media scheduling and listening tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Loomly, Later, or HubSpot) and project management software (e.g., Teamwork, Asana, ClickUp, or Monday.com).
  • Basic Content Creation: Hands-on experience with quick-turn creative tools like Canva and CapCut to create, edit videos and on-the-go content capturing.
  • Client-Facing Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and professional when communicating with client contacts and internal stakeholders.
  • Organization & Detail: Exceptional proofreading skills and an eagle-eye view for detail—because typos on a client's page are a no-go.

Analytical Mindset:
Comfortable diving into social analytics platforms to turn raw data into actionable content strategies.

Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and public-facing community management.
