Maureen Joy Charter School is accepting applications from joyful, passionate, creative, and dedicated middle school science teachers (grades 6-8) who are committed to fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Our K-8 school is dedicated to providing a rigorous academic program and a strong social-emotional foundation that nurtures and challenges each student to grow academically, socially, and personally.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree. A degree in Middle Grades Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid teaching certification for the Middle Grades Science.
  • Proven experience in classroom teaching at the middle school level.

  • Ability to utilize diverse and effective teaching methods.

  • Execute a rigorous, standards-based curriculum, constantly thinking about how to scaffold learning to make it both challenging and joyful.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate lessons that promote comprehensive student learning.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans/internalization guides for feedback from your Instructional Coach, incorporating this feedback to enhance the rigor and joy in your lessons.
  • Use a daily data analysis cycle during class, as well as weekly and unit-level reviews, to track and meet ambitious student goals.
  • Analyze and utilize classroom data to refine lessons and systems, ensuring maximum effectiveness and student engagement as well as timely feedback for students.
  • Participate actively in professional development sessions, regular observations, and feedback conversations to continuously improve teaching practices.
  • Engage in weekly lesson internalization and grade-level team meetings.
  • Implement school-wide systems and routines to create a cohesive and aligned classroom culture.
  • Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere that encourages active learning, engagement, and participation from all students.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders to support student success.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
