Family Programs Services Specialist - Anchorage
Job Announcement
Job Description:
Family Programs is seeking a Services Specialist based in Anchorage, AK. Rate: Pay starts at $29.85 - $31.65 per hour, DOE with 37.5 hours per week. The individual will work closely with the Family Programs Administrator to provide direct services to children, families, and communities. General duties include: working closely and maintaining regular contact with stakeholders; maintaining accurate records and case notes; participating in meetings as scheduled; conducting home visits when necessary; collaborating closely with Tribal Councils about tribal children; identifying families/children who are at risk for child abuse/neglect and advocating for family or tribal placements; traveling for a work-related meeting when requested by supervisor; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Associate of Arts degree in Social Science or a closely related field with two years of case management experience in a Social/Human Services agency and/or Tribal organization.
Preferred: High School Graduate and five years of case management experience in a Social/Human Services agency and/or Tribal organization. Consideration will be given to applicants with extensive work experience and obtaining an AA in the required field of study.
Applicant must be: Knowledgeable about Child Welfare Services, Family Preservation, Foster Care, Adoption, Judicial systems, jurisdiction, court documentation, and local state and tribal governments. The Case Worker will: interact with tribal administrators, board members, executives, managers, and professional and clerical employees effectively, tactfully, and cooperatively; communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing); work independently under limited direction; organize work; set priorities to meet critical deadlines; maintain accurate case notes; practice basic mentoring and assessment skills; manage crises calmly and positively; refer clients to necessary resources within the community and state-wide; promote Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community-based resources; and interact positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly American Indians/Alaska Native clients.
