Job description

The Manager, Safety & Security, serves as a key operational leader supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of Safety & Security programs across Major League Soccer and Soccer United Marketing properties. This role manages critical department operations, including the Soccer Security Agent program, event and meeting coordination, integrity and sports betting compliance administration, cross-functional initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and departmental operational support.

The Manager acts as a central coordinator across League offices, clubs, consultants, vendors, and external partners to ensure effective communication, program execution, operational readiness, and accountability across multiple security-related initiatives.


This position requires strong program management, operational coordination, stakeholder engagement, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously. The successful candidate will help drive execution across department programs, support operational planning efforts, maintain program continuity, and ensure timely completion of key deliverables.


  • Manage administrative, logistical, and operational support for the Safety & Security department across domestic and international events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Manage department calendars, recurring meetings, workstream schedules, agendas, action items, records, and follow-up processes to ensure alignment and accountability.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, prepare agendas and materials, capture and distribute meeting notes, track deliverables, and ensure appropriate stakeholder participation.
  • Manage shipping, equipment, materials, and logistical support for MLS and Soccer United Marketing events.
  • Assist department leadership with preparation of reports, presentations, briefings, and other materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to department leaders, including travel coordination, meeting preparation, document management, and related duties.

Soccer Security Agent Program Management

  • Manage operational coordination and program administration for the Soccer Security Agent (SSA) and Regional Soccer Security Agent (RSSA) programs, including onboarding, communications, consultant engagement, contract administration, and program support activities.
  • Manage administrative workflows for the SSA program, including annual submittals, contract renewals, tax documentation, invoice processing, onboarding materials, payment tracking, and related records.
  • Coordinate regular SSA and RSSA meetings, calls, information-sharing processes, and program communications.
  • Partner with Finance and, when needed, Legal and department leadership to ensure SSA-related contracts, invoices, payments, renewals, and onboarding processes are accurate, timely, and compliant.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase clarity, efficiency, accountability, and consistency across SSA program administration.

Department Operations and Resource Management Support

  • Coordinate departmental purchasing, vendor support, expense tracking, and resource-management processes to support department operations and event execution.
  • Partner with Finance and department leadership to support annual planning, resource allocation, budget oversight, and operational reporting.
  • Support vendor, consultant, and contractor payment processes, including invoice review, routing, tracking, and follow-up.

Security Meetings and Annual Planning

  • Support year-round planning, logistics, coordination, and execution for the annual MLS Security Meetings hosted at MLS club locations.
  • Support planning workstreams for the annual MLS Security Meetings including agenda development, meeting materials, attendee communications, equipment, logistics, vendor coordination, travel-related support, and on-site execution as needed.
  • Maintain meeting notes, action-item trackers, agendas, minutes, and planning records to ensure continuity across the full meeting cycle.
Integrity and Sports Betting Compliance Administration
  • Support the administration and coordination of integrity monitoring, sports betting compliance, and related education initiatives across MLS clubs and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate recurring training cycles related to sports betting, integrity, and prohibited betting requirements, including club notifications, registration tracking, training completion monitoring, and follow-up with clubs and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and track training participation for required club personnel, League stakeholders, consultants, and other designated groups, ensuring notifications, registrations, and training completion requirements are met within each applicable cycle.
  • Maintain training status reports, compliance tracking records, stakeholder communications, and related documentation to support accountability, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and reporting to identify gaps in training completion, registration status, prohibited bettor data maintenance, and related program requirements.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for prohibited bettor program administration, working with clubs to ensure required staff data is entered, maintained, validated, and updated within applicable prohibited bettor platforms.
  • Track club participation and data maintenance within prohibited bettor systems and coordinate follow-up to support ongoing compliance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that improve training-cycle administration, compliance visibility, data accuracy, stakeholder accountability, and continuity across integrity-related programs.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required for major MLS, Soccer United Marketing, Security department, or cross-functional events.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management, Business, Analytics, or a relevant related field
  • 5+ years of experience in administration, logistics, operations, program management, project management, budget coordination, or related professional functions.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractor, vendor, or similar administrative programs preferred.
  • Experience supporting complex events, meetings, or multi-stakeholder operational initiatives preferred.
  • Experience working in sports, entertainment, security, event operations, league operations, or a related environment preferred.
