MetroSlopes — Burlingame, California

MetroSlopes is building the next-generation indoor ski and snowboard training center in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Our flagship Burlingame facility combines high-tech immersive infinite slopes, an indoor freestyle training park, a trampoline training area, a beginner dry slope, a gym dedicated to skiers and snowboarders, and an alpine mountain-themed café—creating a year-round destination for learning, training, and progression.

We are seeking a Head Coach / Junior Development Program Lead to build and lead our athlete development programs. This role reports directly to the Technical Director.

This is a full-time, year-round (non-seasonal) role based in Burlingame, CA, with no seasonal layoffs and a continuous training program.

This is a founding leadership role responsible for shaping the training philosophy, curriculum, and progression pipeline for youth athletes and advanced skiers/snowboarders.


Program Leadership

  • Co-deliver the Metro Slopes junior development (devo) program under the direction of the Technical Director
  • Execute established long-term athlete development pathways (U8/U10/U12/FIS)
  • Implement curriculum, progression milestones, and training methodologies defined by the Technical Director
  • Monitor athlete progress, provide feedback, and apply individualized development plans
  • Provide input and feedback to the Technical Director to continuously improve program design


Coaching & Instruction

  • Lead high-quality private, group, and advanced training sessions
  • Coach youth athletes with a focus on technique, confidence, and progression
  • Mentor and elevate instructor team coaching standards


Team Leadership

  • Support recruiting, training, and day-to-day management of ski/snowboard instructors and assistant coaches
  • Maintain and uphold coaching standards, feedback systems, and performance expectations established by the Technical Director
  • Reinforce and sustain a strong coaching culture focused on progression, safety, and athlete experience


Freestyle & Cross-Training Integration

  • Oversee training across freestyle park and trampoline areas
  • Bridge indoor training with on-mountain performance


Programs & Community

  • Lead camps, clinics, and competitive prep programs
  • Build relationships with ski clubs, teams, and local communities
  • Represent MetroSlopes as a leader in youth ski and snowboard development


Qualifications

  • Expert-level skiing and snowboarding ability
  • Significant coaching experience in a ski club or junior development (devo) program
  • Proven experience working with youth athletes in structured progression environments
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Deep understanding of technique development and athlete progression


Preferred

  • PSIA / AASI certification or equivalent
  • Competitive background (alpine, freestyle, moguls, or snowboard disciplines)
  • Experience building or leading development programs
  • Trampoline or off-snow training experience
  • Experience mentoring or managing other coaches
