Position: Speech-Language Pathologist
We are seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Outpatient Rehabilitation Services Department. This role focuses on providing comprehensive evaluations and treatments to patients of all ages, impacting functional abilities and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outpatient services for both adults and pediatrics, including SLP evaluations and treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital standards and state licensure requirements while following professional guidelines established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Conduct assessments, formulate therapy diagnosis, and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
  • Document patient encounters accurately, including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses, per hospital policies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care, including participating in care conferences and maintaining communication with other healthcare providers.
  • Direct the work of support staff, students, or interns as needed.
  • Develop and conduct patient education programs and home exercise regimens to promote self-care and independence.
  • Provide therapy services in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, home health, and community events.
  • Participate in community service initiatives and outreach programs.
  • Educate staff and contribute to departmental projects and quality improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current CCC-SLP certification and an active license to practice in the State of Alaska.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience in outpatient settings with both pediatric and adult populations is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The role may involve:
  • Repetitive or heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Working in a small space with various people and potentially challenging situations.
  • Travel to remote locations by boat or small plane, possibly in harsh weather conditions.
