How much do slp summer jobs pay per hour?
What are summer jobs for an SLP?
As a speech-language pathologist (SLP), you can carry out your duties over the summer for students enrolled in summer school or day camps. Your responsibilities as a day camp or summer school SLP are to support student speech progression through an evaluation, guidance, and assessment process, either one-on-one with students or in a small group setting. These positions are usually full-time and you can find them with public school districts and health care companies, although some camps also hire a summer SLP. Some jobs require you to travel between various locations during the summer months.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a speech-language pathologist in a summer program, and why are they important?
What is the difference between Slp Summer vs Speech-Language Pathology Assistant?
| Aspect | Slp Summer | Speech-Language Pathology Assistant |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Varies; often no formal certification, but some programs require coursework | Typically requires a certification or license, such as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant credential |
| Work Environment | Temporary, often in schools or clinics during summer; part-time | Assist SLPs in clinics, schools, or hospitals year-round or part-time |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Educational institutions, summer programs, clinics | Healthcare facilities, schools, clinics |
Slp Summer roles are usually temporary summer positions focusing on gaining experience or assisting during the summer months, often with less formal credentials. Speech-Language Pathology Assistants work year-round supporting licensed SLPs and typically require specific certification. Both roles operate in similar environments but differ mainly in duration and credential requirements.

Job description
Overview
Have you ever dreamed of a career where your skills not only heal but inspire? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the wonderfully diverse landscape of Rochester, your role extends far beyond treating communication and swallowing disorders. Here, you'll play a pivotal part in helping individuals discover their voices, regain their confidence, and foster connections, whether it's toddlers saying their first words or older adults enjoying conversations with family again.
This incredible opportunity allows you to work with a broad range of patients, from children to seniors, in a setting that marries outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient care. If your passion lies in pediatric speech development, intervening with adults facing neurogenic challenges, or working with elderly patients recovering cognitive skills, this position offers a reverberating sense of achievement and personal growth.
Description
- Conduct thorough evaluations for patients spanning all age groups using standardized assessments and observation methodologies.
- Design individualized treatment plans that cater to immediate objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing aspirations.
- Deliver tailored speech therapy sessions that focus on enhancing communication, language skills, fluency, voice quality, and swallowing difficulties.
- Work hand-in-hand with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to establish a harmonious care approach.
- Provide educational resources for patients and families to facilitate progress beyond clinical visits.
- Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions to guarantee seamless continuity of treatment.
- Keep accurate, timely records in accordance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Pursue educational advancements through ongoing training and collaboration with peers.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required if not yet ASHA-certified.
- Valid state license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification necessary within 30 days of employment initiation.
- Expertise in evidence-backed treatment techniques for all ages, enriched by profound knowledge of developmental and acquired language disorders.
- Superior interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility in modifying therapy techniques to accommodate a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong problem-solving abilities complemented by sound clinical judgment.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation protocols.
- Attractive compensation reflective of your experience.
- Flexible work schedules to promote an enhanced work-life balance with diverse patient loads.
- Specialization opportunities in pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Paid time off (PTO) along with holiday compensation.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options available.
- Financial support for continuing education and ongoing professional development.
- A collaborative, team-centered environment devoted to quality care and lifelong learning.
