Job description

SUMMARY
As a Speech Pathologist, your compassion, patience, and dedication to assisting patients with their communication abilities greatly enhance their quality of life.
STATUS: Per Diem
LOCATION: United Memorial Medical Center (UMMC) - 330 Summit St. Batavia, NY
DEPARTMENT: Speech Pathology
SCHEDULE: Day/Evening Shifts, 4-hr. shifts; Weekdays & Weekends on a scheduled basis
Position Summary
Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with problems in cognition, communication, and/or deglutition using accepted techniques and equipment within the guidelines of the organization's policies and procedures and professional standards of practice. Assesses and restores patients' function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by designing, planning, and implementing medically prescribed speech-language pathology interventions. Provide superior customer service by modeling the Brand Promise and Core Values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Patient Evaluation & Development. Meet the patient's goals and needs by providing quality, evidence-based care; assess, develop, and implement an individualized treatment plan
  • Patient Care. Help patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices/recommendations; instruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing daily living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices
  • Leadership. Develop the speech-language therapy staff; provide information, develop and conduct in-service training programs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology (may be MA, MS, Med)
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology (may be MA, MS, Med).
    • For recent graduates:
    Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR
    Eligible to participate in a supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit, followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of the NYS license.
    Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
    • New York State licensure
    or
    • For recent graduates:
    Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR Eligible to participate in supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit and followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year of experience in a medical setting preferred
  • Prior Speech-Language Pathology experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
