Job description

Established in 1968, Cherry Coatings is one of the largest commercial paint contractors in the country. We are a family-owned business that provides architectural, industrial, and maintenance coating services for some of the most recognizable facilities in Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, and beyond. Our strong emphasis on high-quality service and client satisfaction has made us the select partner for general contractors, property management firms, and facility managers.
Assigned to individual project(s), The Site Safety Coordinator will attend all initial meetings with the project staff and General Contractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the Project Safety Program. Will conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor safety representatives and/or foremen to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor's activity on site. The Safety Coordinator will also establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives.
Technical Competencies Gained at This Position:
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards, including 29 CFR 1926 for construction safety.
  • Implementing Cherry's comprehensive safety programs on projects.
  • Proficient in investigating and analyzing incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and contributing factors.
  • Conduct formal weekly job site inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions.
  • Experience in delivering safety meetings to employees at the project level.
  • Help enforce Cherry's Drug and Alcohol Policy, including handling site drug testing.
  • Conducting safety orientation for new employees and trade partners.
  • Participate in preparing inspection reports and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols specific to construction sites.
  • Provide guidance and support to subcontractors in implementing safety measures.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor safety training documentation and verifying compliance with company standards.
  • Organizing and maintaining comprehensive safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, and training records.
  • Proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improving safety performance and implementing preventive measures.
  • Develop and implement safety orientation programs for new employees and trade partners, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of safety protocols.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant construction safety experience
  • Bilingual Spanish / English is required
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Training
  • Highly Preferred: OSHA 500, A BCSP Certification
  • Experience using Excel, Procore, or comparable construction technologies is a plus
