Job description

Low Voltage Estimator / Engineer (Access Control / Division 27/28) โ€“ South Florida

Company Description

Coranet Corp is a leading national provider of low-voltage solutions, including Structured Cabling (Div. 27), Physical Security (Div. 28), Wireless, and AV. We partner with top technology brands to design, install, and maintain solutions that make buildings smart, secure, and connected. We are focused on the built environment and partnering with developers and general contractors to bring their visions to life. We're recognized as one of the fastest-growing private businesses (Inc. 5000 for four year in a row) and are a certified Women-Owned Small Business.

Role Description

We're hiring a talented Low Voltage Estimator with Access Control expertise. This is a high-impact role in a growing division where your work directly influences our win rate, profitability, execution, and future growth.

You, along with fellow estimators and engineers, will own Division 27/28 estimating end-to-end - building competitive bids for new construction and renovations, working with sales to close deals, and creating proposals for new and existing customers. We are looking for someone who can estimate the full low-voltage scope, including CCTV, access control, Audiovisual, Wireless, BMS, and Structured Cabling systems, and can engineer/solve scope gaps when needed (RFIs, leveling, alternates, clarifications).

Bluebeam is essential. Experience in access control/security systems is strongly preferred (this is an area we're actively strengthening).

What You'll Do

  • Own estimates from intake through submission: scope review, takeoffs, pricing, leveling, and final proposal.
  • Perform detailed takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu (drawings/specs, symbol sets, markups, quantities, revisions).
  • Support sales on customer pitches and bid reviews adding your professional and technical voice to theirs.
  • Build complete Division 27/28 estimates: structured cabling, pathways/support, fiber, racks/cabinets, wireless, CCTV, access control, intrusion (as applicable), and related systems.
  • Use simPRO to build accurate estimates, labor, materials, assemblies, and job costing inputs.
  • Evaluate plans/specs, identify missing scope, and produce RFIs/clarifications.
  • Coordinate pricing with manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors; negotiate and validate quotes.
  • Support and weigh in on competitive bid strategy: alternates, value engineering, exclusions/inclusions, and risk flags.
  • Hand off awarded projects cleanly to operations/PM: scope, assumptions, labor plan, and procurement notes.
  • Track bid pipeline and follow-ups; assist with forecasting and award probability updates.
  • Stay current on technologies and best practices in low-voltage, with a focus on security/access control.

What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

  • 3+ years of experience in low-voltage integration projects, with 2+ years dedicated estimating experience (more is welcome).
  • Proven experience in estimating Division 27/28 work for commercial new build and renovation projects.
  • Strong Bluebeam Revu skills (takeoffs, markups, measurements, revisions, toolsets).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents: plans, specs, addenda, schedules, and vendor cutsheets.
  • Comfortable producing competitive bids and customer-facing proposals with clean scope language.
  • Strong communication and follow-through with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Knowledge of residential and commercial low voltage technologies (WiFi, CCTV, access controls, and structured cabling systems), including products from industry leaders, with industry and/or manufacturer training and certifications as a plus.
  • Proven track record of estimating numerous large-scale low-voltage / IT projects.

Preferred

  • Experience with Access Control & Security Systems (HID/LenelS2/Genetec/AMAG/Butterfly/Software House/Axiom/VMS platforms-any is a plus).
  • Ability to "light engineer" when needed: device placement logic, system architecture considerations, riser/schematics coordination, and identifying design gaps.
  • Experience with simPRO (or similar estimating/ops platform).
  • Knowledge of AV, BMS, lighting controls, or DAS (not required).

Keywords: Low Voltage Estimator, Division 27, Division 28, Structured Cabling, Access Control, CCTV, Security Systems, Bluebeam Revu, simPRO, Commercial Construction, RFP, Takeoff, Bid Leveling
