Position Duties:
  • Use hand tools and power tools to cut and shape sheet metal for duct and fittings.
  • Open shop daily.
  • Check shop inbox daily to review the need for emergency fittings.
  • Complete all shop fittings on or under budgeted labor hours.
  • Assist with preparing job estimates and other projects as needed.
  • Assist other shop personnel with completing shop fittings on a timely basis.
  • Ensure all fittings are ready by 7:30 AM for smooth dispatch of work crews.
  • Keep all machinery and equipment maintained and fully operational.
  • Ensure that anyone entering the shop fabrication area has proper eye protection and follows all company safety policies.
  • Complete paperwork to record all hours and materials used per job and submit to accounting department.
  • Review schedule for upcoming jobs to confirm that all shop lists have been turned in for fabrication, notifying shop foreman if lists are missing.
  • Maintain required levels of shop stock items, informing warehouse staff of any shop stocking items needed.
  • Assist warehouse staff if needed with stocking, pilling jobs, or deliveries.
  • Keep the entire shop area neat, organized, and free of scrap and debris.
  • Help maintain profitability within the shop.
