Job description

CTR Group is seeking Shipfitter Trainees - New Construction for a Shipyard in the Mobile, AL area for full-time positions.

Recently separated or retired Navy Service Members are encouraged to apply!

Shipfitter Trainee – Full-Time, Paid On-the-Job Training

Pay Rate: $20 per Hour. After the 10-week training and when test is passed, the pay rate will be bumped up to $25.75.

12 Positions to be filled.


Location: Mobile, AL
Employment Type: Full-Time W2 Employee from Day One
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage during training (not a stipend)
Outcome: Guaranteed job placement upon successful completion

Overview:
CTR Group is offering a selective, paid training opportunity in Mobile for individuals seeking a long-term career in shipbuilding and heavy industrial trades. Trainees will be hired as full time CTR W2 employees at the beginning of the program and paid while they learn. Upon successful completion of the program and final evaluations, all participants will receive guaranteed job placement with CTR working at a major local shipyard.

  • Full-time, hands-on training focused on structural fitting fundamentals
  • Instruction in blueprint reading, layout, precision measurement, and tool usage
  • Basic welding and tack welding training (non-certified)
  • Practical instruction from experienced industry professionals in a real fabrication environment

Selection Process:
Admission into the program is competitive. Candidates will go through an application, screening, and interview process. Final selection is based on work ethic, aptitude, and fit for the trade—not prior experience.

  • Mechanical aptitude or prior exposure to construction, welding, shipyard or manufacturing
