BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
2+ years of recruiting experience; industrial, maritime, or skilled-trade recruiting preferred.
Working knowledge of shipyard roles and required trade skills.
Experience with high-volume or contract staffing is a strong plus.
Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple searches, deadlines, and candidate pipelines.
Proficiency with ATS platforms and online sourcing tools.
Understanding of hiring compliance including EEO and federal guidelines.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Shipyard Recruiter will support high-volume hiring efforts for skilled trades and technical positions within shipyards and maritime manufacturing environments.
  • This role requires strong sourcing abilities, trade-industry familiarity, and the ability to build trusted relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and clients.

  • You will play a key role in ensuring our clients' projects remain fully staffed and on schedule.

  • Recruit for a wide range of shipyard and marine trades including Welders, Fitters, Pipefitters, Marine Electricians, Riggers, Mechanics, Planners, and Engineers.

Execute full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, iโ€ข nterviewing, scheduling, offer coordination, and onboarding.
  • Partner with hiring managers and account teams to understand project timelines, labor needs, and skill requirements.
  • Source talent through job boards, social platforms, military transition programs, trade schools, and maritime-industry networks.
  • Verify trade certifications and compliance requirements (TWIC, OSHA, NAVSEA, ABS, etc.).
  • Support onboarding tasks including background checks, drug screens, orientations, and start-date coordination.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records in the ATS following Chipton-Ross compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain a steady pipeline of qualified maritime and shipyard talent to support ongoing and future client needs.
  • Represent Chipton-Ross at job fairs, hiring events, and community outreach programs.
  • Stay informed on labor market conditions and shipyard industry trends to support strategic staffing initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting NAVSEA, MARAD, DoD, or commercial shipyard contracts.
  • Knowledge of badging/clearance processes for secure facilities.
  • Military recruiting or veteran outreach experience.

We are also hiring shipyard recruiters in Pascagoula, MS and Newport News, VA.

  • 2-4 year degree is preferred
