Marine Pipe Welder (CuNi Experience Required)


Location: Mobile, Al & Pascagoula MS
Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $37 - $48 hr / $150 per diem

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Marine Pipe Welder with Copper Nickel (CuNi) experience to join our shipyard and marine fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience welding CuNi piping systems aboard naval, commercial, or industrial marine vessels. This position requires strong knowledge of marine pipe welding procedures, blueprint interpretation, and shipyard safety standards.


Responsibilities

  • Weld and fabricate Copper Nickel (CuNi), stainless steel, and carbon steel piping systems for marine vessels and shipyard projects
  • Perform TIG and MIG welding on marine pipe systems according to specifications and welding procedures
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and weld symbols
  • Fit, align, and install piping systems including seawater, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems
  • Conduct weld inspections and ensure weld quality meets marine and NAVSEA standards
  • Repair existing piping systems and complete modifications as required
  • Use hand tools, grinders, beveling equipment, and welding machines safely and effectively
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all safety procedures
  • Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and onboard vessels as needed
  • Collaborate with pipe fitters, supervisors, and quality control personnel to complete projects on schedule


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of marine pipe welding experience preferred
  • Proven experience welding Copper Nickel (CuNi) piping systems required
  • Proficient in TIG welding; MIG and Stick welding experience a plus
  • Ability to pass welding tests in CuNi materials
  • Experience reading marine blueprints and isometric drawings
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA standards and shipyard procedures preferred
  • Strong understanding of welding safety practices and confined space requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding shipyard environments
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance


Preferred Certifications

  • AWS Welding Certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification
  • NAVSEA Welding Qualifications (preferred)
