Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 4+ years experience in the marine electrical field

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements

Preferred Design Disciplines

 One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.).

Job Description: 

An Ingalls First-Class Electrician also called a Electrical Journeyman, is responsible for the layout, installation and repair of shipboard cables, lighting, and electronic equipment, as well as the ships power.  Electricians utilize an assortment of hand and power tools, a variety of test equipment along with a working knowledge of blue prints, drawings and schematics. As with most every position in the shipyard, an Electrician may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time.
