Position Overview: 

As a Shipping and Receiving Specialist, you will be responsible for order fulfillment, shipping finished goods, tracking inventory and receiving raw materials into inventory. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with DOT and IATA shipping regulations, while working in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review work orders submitted for shipment to ensure accurate carrier, address, shipping payment method and advise if any discrepancies.
  2. Pick products from finished goods inventory off Work Order and advise customer service of any issues with stock.
  3. Prepare products for either a small package carrier or on a skid for an LTL carrier based on specification from customer or MicroCare "best way" assessment.
  4. Apply DOT and IATA shipping regulations and assign proper classification of materials based on shipment method.
  5. Provide shipping quotations as needed to Customer Relations department.
  6. Verify accuracy of inventory.
  7. Load and unload trucks as needed with propane powered forklift.
  8. Receive products from vendors and verify accuracy of packing list.
  9. Utilize UPS/Fed-Ex shipping software along with LTL shipping software to process shipments.
  10. Review and comply with ISO quality procedures for shipping/receiving.
  11. In association with Director of Logistics, works with carriers to ensure best pricing for freight contracts.
  12. Attend company provided Haz-Mat training required every three years.
  13. Promote an incident free workplace by complying with safety policies and procedures and participate in company safety trainings 
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of shipping & receiving experience 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents i.e., shipping labels, packing slips and bills of lading
  • Ability to operate all warehouse equipment, including standup and sit-down forklifts
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must have basic math skills, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and      division
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Lifting required of up to 70lbs unassisted and over 70lbs with lifting aides 

Continuous reaching/working overhead 

Frequently stands, walks, sits, climbs, pushes, pulls, and carry items  

Work environment subject to seasonal temperature variationsÂ
