Shipping Specialist
Position: Direct Hire
Location: Wentzville, MO (no relocation).
Hours: M – F (8 to 5).
Status: Must be a US citizen.
Salary: $20 - $22 hour (depending on experience).

Education: Highschool Diploma or GED.
Summary: Our client is seeking a Shipping Specialist to work at their Wentzville, MO location. They are a growing company looking for an energetic person who has one to two years of experience and is eager to learn and grow with the company.
Description: The Shipping Specialist is responsible for preparing and packaging final products for shipment, processing shipments electronically within the ERP system, printing packing slips and bills of lading, and scheduling LTL shipments when needed. Shipping Specialists verify correct products and quantities against the packing slip, and ensure all shipments are labeled, picked up by the correct carrier, and delivered safely without damage to the right address. They are able to package efficiently to avoid packaging waste and use best packaging practices using boxes, pallets and crate building to keep the product protected. Shipping Specialists also ensure all paperwork is filled out, filed, and that shipping transactions are accurate and complete.
Qualifications:
• 1-2 years warehouse/shipping experience.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Some carpentry experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds Competencies.
• Spatial organization skills.
• Attention to details on paperwork, such as order numbers, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities.
• Intuitive understanding of packaging materials and best practices to prevent product damage.
• Ability to construct structurally sound pallets and crates.
• Experience with electronic shipping software and/or ERP shipping software preferred.
Equipment Skills:
Qualified to operate the following equipment w/ appropriate PPE:
• Overhead crane.
• Dock leveler.
• Sit down forklift.
• Power tools, including circular saw, panel saw, table saw, impact drill.
Responsibilities:
• Verify and sign off on packed items using order number, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities.
• Safely package smaller boxed items, maximizing protection while reducing packaging material waste.
• Safely pack, secure, and protect boxed or unboxed items on pallets or in crates for outgoing shipments.
• Modify or construct custom pallets or crates as needed from raw wood materials.
• Process shipments in the ERP system and print packing slips or bill of ladings for carriers. • Ensure packages are picked up correctly by the carrier.
Objectives:
• Achieve 99.9% safe delivery by protecting shipments from damage through proper packaging methods.
• Prevent delivery of incorrect product or quantities by thoroughly verifying packing slips to the order number, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities.
• Prevent inaccurate inventory record keeping by completing shipping transactions accurately and completely.
