SharePoint Online Trainer

Location: Washington, DC

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SharePoint Online Trainer to join our team, supporting a critical virtual training program for a large user community within a Federal Agency (USCIS). This role is instrumental in empowering users with the technical knowledge and practical application of SharePoint Online fundamentals, enabling them to enhance productivity and collaboration in their daily business operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, delivering, and managing engaging training content, ensuring users gain deep insight into SharePoint Online features, best practices, and governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Delivery & Facilitation:
    • Design and deliver comprehensive virtual training sessions on SharePoint Online features, concepts, best practices, web collaboration, and web content management.
    • Facilitate interactive Intranet "brownbag" sessions on specific SharePoint Online topics, including but not limited to site taxonomy, permissions, site settings, content security, and content management, typically requested by stakeholders.
    • Train, guide, and cultivate the user community on the latest SharePoint Online concepts, functional techniques, standards, and the application of organizational governance.
  • Content Development & Maintenance:
    • Develop, maintain, and continuously update all training materials, presentations, and documentation to reflect any changes within the SharePoint Online environment (e.g., infrastructure updates, migrations to other collaboration toolsets, new SharePoint Online versions, or relevant subject matter).
    • Develop, manage, and maintain a comprehensive series of SharePoint Online training videos, ensuring all videos incorporate Closed Captioning and adhere to USCIS Office of Communications guidelines and standards for video production. These videos will be hosted in the designated SharePoint Online training location, accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities.
  • Program Management & Administration:
    • Develop and maintain a detailed schedule for all training classes, including date, time, prerequisites, and length of each class.
    • Coordinate all training sessions through the existing USCIS training registration system.
    • Maintain an updated class roster for all training attendees.
    • Ensure enrolled participants meet all specified course prerequisites.
    • Administer and grade course tests, informing students of a pass/fail result within 36 hours of course completion.
    • Distribute and collect training completion surveys from attendees within 36 hours after training is completed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (X+ years, ideally 3-5+) as a SharePoint Trainer, Technical Trainer, or similar role.
  • Demonstrable expertise in SharePoint Online features, functionalities, and best practices, including web collaboration and content management.
  • Strong understanding of SharePoint Online governance and security principles.
  • Experience in developing compelling and easy-to-understand technical training materials for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in creating and managing technical training videos, including knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., Closed Captioning).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable instructions.
  • Exceptional presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire learners in a virtual environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in managing schedules, rosters, and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience training within a U.S. Federal Government agency, particularly USCIS.
  • Familiarity with government IT policies and accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508).
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, Communications, or a related field.
