SharePoint Designers often encounter the challenge of balancing each department's unique requirements with organizational standards and platform limitations. Is SharePoint development a good career?

SharePoint development is a viable career path for professionals skilled in web development, collaboration tools, and Microsoft technologies. It offers opportunities in various industries, often requiring certifications and knowledge of SharePoint architecture, workflows, and customization. The demand for SharePoint developers remains steady due to ongoing enterprise collaboration needs.

Is SharePoint Designer still a thing?

SharePoint Designer was a popular tool for customizing SharePoint sites, but Microsoft officially discontinued it in 2016, encouraging users to transition to Power Automate, Power Apps, and modern SharePoint development tools. While some organizations still use it for legacy workflows, most new SharePoint development now relies on supported, modern tools and techniques.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SharePoint Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a SharePoint Designer, you need expertise in SharePoint platform architecture, web design, and content management, often supported by a degree in IT or related field. Proficiency with SharePoint Designer, Microsoft 365, HTML, CSS, and sometimes JavaScript or Power Automate is typically required. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you understand user needs and deliver effective solutions. These competencies ensure efficient site design, functionality, and user satisfaction within organizational intranets and collaboration platforms.
