The Opportunity

The Senior SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) and SDx Administrator is responsible for the setup, configuration, integration, development, and sustained operational support of SmartPlant Foundation and SDx as the central engineering information management and integration platforms for Octave applications, formerly Hexagon PPM / Intergraph SmartPlant. This role will establish and maintain the Integration framework required to connect Smart 3D, Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical, and related engineering applications across project and enterprise environments. 

The successful candidate must have hands-on experience configuring SPF and SDx. Their experience must include the configuration of schemas, domains, publish/retrieve workflows, tool registrations, mapping rules, security, workflows, data validation, and the development of front-end and back-end extensibility modules using the SDx Extensibility Framework. This role will work closely with engineering disciplines, administrators of other SmartPlant applications, IT, project teams, vendors, and client stakeholders to ensure the SmartPlant application ecosystem is fully configured, governed, and supportable for production project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, configure, and administer the SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) environment.
  • Set up, configure, and administer the SDx environment.
  • Configure plant structures, domains, security, workflows, vaults, documents, tags, and relationships.
  • Administer Foundation clients, services, schema components, and application services.
  • Maintain schemas, class definitions, properties, document types, naming rules, and status rules.
  • Coordinate installations, upgrades, patches, refreshes, backups, and issue resolution.
  • Configure integrations between SPF and Smart 3D, Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, and Smart Electrical.
  • Set up publish, retrieve, correlate, consolidate, and update workflows.
  • Set up the Consolidated Data Warehouse (CDW) in SPF and configure precedence rules
  • Maintain tool registrations, plant registrations, design basis setup, and cross-application synchronization.
  • Define schema mappings, attribute mappings, precedence rules, consolidation rules, and data ownership models.
  • Troubleshoot publish/retrieve errors, schema conflicts, data conflicts, and integration failures.
  • Develop custom configurations, utilities, reports, data loaders, validations, and automation.
  • Use APIs, .NET, SQL, XML, schema tools, and import/export utilities to extend functionality.
  • Architect custom integrations connecting disparate 3rd-party enterprise systems through REST, OData, and SOAP endpoints.
  • Support data extraction, transformation, reporting, analytics, and enterprise system integration.
  • Manage configuration changes, defects, development tasks, and release documentation.
  • Enforce data ownership, object status, revision control, document status, and auditability.
  • Support data validation, cleansing, duplication checks, and inconsistency resolution.
  • Align integration rules with engineering workflows and deliverable requirements.
  • Create administration guides, configuration records, troubleshooting guides, and end-user training material.
  • Train administrators, project users, engineering disciplines, and support teams on enabling SmartPlant Foundation Integration workflows. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent SmartPlant Foundation administration and integration experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting Hexagon / Octave SmartPlant applications, with direct hands-on experience administering SmartPlant Foundation and SDx.
  • Strong experience configuring SmartPlant Foundation for multi-application integration, including domains, schemas, relationships, plant structures, publish/retrieve workflows, tool registrations, mappings, security, and workflows.
  • Experience integrating SmartPlant Foundation with Smart 3D, Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical, or related engineering applications.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server databases for troubleshooting, data extraction, reporting, validation, connectivity, backups, restores, and administration support.
  • Development or scripting experience using .NET, SQL, XML, APIs, schema tools, import/export utilities, or comparable SmartPlant Foundation development methods.
  • Experience with the development of responsive, modern web-client interfaces utilizing component-based architectures in React and Angular.
  • Experience with scripting high-throughput Engineering Tag Attributes and automated ETL pipelines to execute mass data ingestion and document loading via SDx APIs.
  • Experience supporting power generation or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.
  • Prior Lead or Senior Administrator role supporting Hexagon SmartPlant platforms.
  • Experience administering multi-disciplined environments is considered an asset.
  • Relevant Octave / Hexagon SmartPlant Foundation, SDx, integration, engineering systems, or database certifications are preferred. 
Minimum Qualifications

Typically a minimum of 3 plus years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

As this position supports the global nuclear program at Black & Veatch, any potential offer will be conditional on the individual being able to satisfy all requirements, including citizenship requirements, outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations 10 CFR 810.

Final compensation is determined based on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications, internal alignment, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
