Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for solar PV and energy storage projects, including interconnection packages, permit/construction drawings, calculations, and closeout documentation.
  • Develop system models using PVSyst, Helioscope, and manufacturer-specific design tools to generate production estimates.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess existing electrical infrastructure and field conditions.
  • Create single-line diagrams, installation details, equipment schedules, and electrical calculations in compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
  • Produce shop drawings and construction documentation for field installation teams.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and scanning technologies, including drones and ground-based systems, to capture and model existing conditions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, utilities, AHJs, and contractors throughout design and construction phases.
  • Maintain and update record drawings based on field markups and site visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent electrical construction experience; PE license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy electrical design and construction.
  • Experience with solar PV and energy storage systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, PVSyst, Helioscope, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including voltage drop, ampacity, short-circuit analysis, arc flash, protection coordination, relaying, power factor, and equipment selection.
  • NABCEP certification or related industry certifications preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, client service skills, and the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
