Sr. Renewables Electrical Design Engineer, Solar and EV - REMOTE (Howell, NJ area)
We are working with a comprehensive engineering services provider that has a specialized focus in Solar, Electric Vehicle (EV), and Civil Engineering disciplines. The company provides end-to-end engineering services from conception through design and construction of the project. There is flexibility for remote work with periodic site travel or hybrid work if located near the Howell, NJ area.
This position will take on responsibility for the technical direction of C&I and Utility solar projects throughout site audit, estimation, design, interconnection, and O&M phases. The key emphasis in this role will be in conceptual and development design drawings in PVsyst, AutoCAD, or Helioscope design tools.It will also lead C&I and Utility solar projects throughout site audit, estimation, design, interconnection, and O&M phases. Experience with PSSE and/or ETAP is ideal for short-circuit and fault current studies.
An ideal candidate must have significant experience dealing with the Electrical Utilities / Municipalities in the region. Exposure to RTOs/ISOs like NYISO & ISO-NE are a HUGE plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer -Utilizes AutoCAD for design of inverters, switch gear, wiring, protection, and related Solar PV components
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Creates detailed, accurate, and comprehensive technical drawings for commercial solar system projects using AutoCAD
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Works closely with engineers and project managers to convert design concepts into precise construction documents
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Prepares engineering scope of work, RFP, cost estimates, and bid packages for C&I and utility Solar PV, Ground mount, and rooftop projects of 5MW+
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Reviews EPC Contracts, equipment specifications, warranties, and other technical documentation
  • Sr. Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Involved throughout pre construction, interconnection, permitting, finance, and other late stage solar project development initiatives
  • Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Works with EPC on final project design approval at the end of construction phase
  • Solar PV Design Engineer / Renewables Electrical Engineer - Ensures interconnection applications are complete and coordinate application process with utilities

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • MUST be able to design Solar PV, construction, medium voltage, and/or electrical distribution specifications independently
  • 5+ years work experience on Ground Mount, Rooftop or Carport solar PV systems
  • Experience completing Solar or Storage projects of at least 5MW
  • Experience within ISO-NE, NYISO, and/or North East AHJ's (Authority Having Jurisdictions)
  • Experience in full cycle project engineering for C&I or utility scale renewable energy projects
  • Understanding of the EPC Design process for structural and electrical layouts
  • Proficiency with PVsyst, AutoCAD, or Helioscope design tools
  • Experience with ETAP, PSSE, or related software packages for short circuit, fault current, and related electrical studies
  • Candidates that have worked in the following roles for renewable, utility, or clean energy companies would be ideal: Solar project Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer
