Job description

Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President, Chief of Staff/Project Manager serves as the centralized coordination leader/project manager for internal operations and activities for the State Government Relations (SGR) Division, including coordinating and managing SGR special projects, reports, issue trackers and member-facing updates.
Principal Responsibilities

  • Assists in coordinating SGR legislative and regulatory activity across all states.
  • Coordinates internal SGR workflows, calendars and deliverables.
  • Manages special SGR projects, issue trackers, reports and member-facing updates.
  • Contributes to and supports strategic planning and cross-state issue alignment.
  • Works with the Public Affairs Division to leads strategic communications initiatives on behalf of SGR.
  • Works collaboratively with SGR team members, other APCIA staff, and member companies, as appropriate, to complete special projects/reports and coordinate SGR legislative and regulatory activities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt member response/service with respect to assigned special projects and other tasks, as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in political science, business administration, communications or related field.

Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in legislative, regulatory, or government relations matters. Knowledge of the insurance industry preferred.

  • Strong familiarity with legislative processes.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to oversee projects, reports and communications.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative and follow-through.
