Position: Full-Time

Compensation: $20.00- $25.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

About this role

The Sewing Lead supports Outdoor Research's domestic manufacturing operations by coordinating sewing department workflow, providing technical guidance, training, makes samples and promoting quality, safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This position also serves as a key point of communication with overseas manufacturing partners in Asia regarding production processes, quality, and operational needs. Bilingual proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is preferred.

What you will do

• Provide Training, guidance, and technical support to sewing operators to ensure production, quality, and safety standards are met. Assist with samples making and product development.

• Assist with coordinating workflow and distributing work assignments to support production schedules, maintain efficient work-in-progress levels, and minimize production delays. Communicate production concerns and staffing needs to the Director of Manufacturing.

• Support employee onboarding with HR, training, and cross-training efforts. Conduct and document training on sewing machines, equipment, and manufacturing processes to promote employee skill development and operational flexibility.

• Monitor production output, quality, and process efficiency. Identify opportunities for process improvements and communicate recommendations to management to support productivity and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Promote a safe working environment by ensuring employees use required personal protective equipment, following established safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and reporting concerns to management.

• Assist with the inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sewing equipment. Coordinate repair needs, track equipment issues, and support preventative maintenance efforts to minimize downtime.

• Serve as a resource for sewing operators and collaborate with the Director of Manufacturing, Planning Team, Cutting Department, and other production support teams to help ensure smooth daily operations.

• Communicate with overseas manufacturing partners in Asia regarding production processes, technical specifications, quality concerns, and operational updates.
