Apex Energy & Environmental Products, Inc. (a division of Smart Energy Insulation Group) is looking for a hardworking, personable and environmentally conscious individual with a desire to learn and develop a career in the industrial/commercial custom sewing (not an assembly line). We are growing, and are looking for Sewer – Sewing - Team Member to work with other crew members and sew / fabricate energy efficient products such as insulation covers, and sound deadening.
The applicant must demonstrate personable and professional conduct while interfacing with co-workers and customers. The applicant must have a valid driver's license, provide their own transportation and be willing to have a background check and drug test. It's preferred (not required) for applicants to have at least 1 year of sewing knowledge of sewing machines, setup and use (Industrial walking foot). Experience with industrial sewing, pattern making, (basic) knowledge of sewing machines is preferred, but not required.
Job Description - Necessary Skills
Willing to learn new skill. Willing to learn to perform pattern layout and willing to learn to sew is MOST desired. We make custom removable insulation for many building devices - Attention to detail and time management
Work safely with power tools and equipment - Comfortable working with insulation and industrial fabrics – sewing and cutting fabrics and cutting insulation (fiber primarily). We provide clean work space and protective clothing and gloves.
Lead and Assist in the layout of patterns and cutting of fabrics for sewing covers - Lifting 25-40 lbs onto work tables.
Work with other Team members to provide high quality customer service - Team player with respect for employer and customers' property
Pay & Benefits
The position requires signing in for Union participation (prior membership not required) and pays $20-22 per hour, depending on the applicant's experience. Health/Dental care, paid vacation and other benefits are available to full time employees. Work is Farmington Hills shop which is well lit, heated and air conditioned. Applicants will be expected to conduct pattern layout, sewing and insulation stuffing as part of interview. Benefits we offer (are the highest in this industry):


• Highest level Wages - 40% above others in similar sewing positions
•  40 hours Paid Time Off after 120 Days (80 Hours after 2 years) and fully paid Holidays
