What is a Remote Sewing job?

A Remote Sewing job involves sewing or crafting textiles from home or a personal workspace instead of a traditional factory or studio. These jobs may include tasks like creating garments, altering clothing, quilting, or assembling fabric-based products. Workers typically receive materials and instructions from clients or companies and may use their own sewing machines and tools. Many remote sewing jobs are freelance, contract-based, or part of a small business.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Sewing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Sewing, you need strong sewing technique, attention to detail, and proficiency with various types of sewing machines and fabrics. Familiarity with digital design patterns, virtual collaboration tools, and sometimes basic garment construction certifications can be important. Exceptional time management, self-motivation, and written communication skills help you meet deadlines and connect with clients or team members remotely. These skills are essential for producing high-quality work, maintaining workflow efficiency, and building trust in a remote professional setting.

What does a typical work day look like for someone in a Remote Sewing position?

A typical work day for a remote sewing professional involves receiving orders or project instructions online, reviewing digital patterns or specifications, and sewing garments or products from a home-based or personal workshop. You’ll frequently communicate with clients, designers, or supervisors through email, chat, or project management platforms to clarify requirements and provide updates. Quality control and photographing finished pieces for approval are common daily tasks. The role often requires you to balance multiple projects or deadlines, and you’ll need to ensure your workspace is organized and equipped for efficient production. While the job is independent, collaboration and timely communication are key to ongoing success.

Job description

About Us:
At UA Brands, we’re changing the way healthcare and culinary professionals dress. For over 40 years, we’ve created stylish, high-performance uniforms designed to empower those on the front lines. Our apparel breaks the mold—combining brilliant design with real-world function. Join a team that values creativity, impact, and community, and help us redefine uniforms that don’t conform.

Role Overview:
We’re searching for a Remote Experienced Seamstress to supplement our sewing needs over the next 2-3 months.  We are looking for someone available between 10 - 20 hours a week with a particular focus on commercial sewing and fabrication techniques with accuracy and efficiency. Flexible hours and 100% remote.
We will consider non-employed independent contractor arrangements if appropriately self-employed.

This is a work-from-home opportunity and must be based in South Florida.

Must have an industrial sewing machine, including single needle, double-needle cover stitch, and serger/overlock. Flatlock and buttonhole machines would be a valuable addition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Must have access to a dedicated cutting table or sufficient workspace to accurately lay out and cut fabric patterns, ensuring precision in garment and product construction.
  • Professional use of an industrial sewing machine to make new samples, or to make requested modifications to uniform garments.
  • Checks patterns for errors or inaccuracies and provides feedback on construction difficulties from a production standpoint.
  • Giving concise feedback on the construction of garments from a manufacturing standpoint.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and quality-focused.
  • Well-versed in industrial Sewing machines.
  • Salary based on experience. The pay range is $20 to $25 per hour.
