Responsibilities

The Dietary Services Manager oversees daily hospital food and nutrition services, including cafeteria and retail operations, food production, staffing, budgeting, inventory, and customer service. This role ensures compliance with food safety, sanitation, HACCP, infection prevention, and healthcare regulatory standards while maintaining high-quality food service operations. The manager leads and develops dietary staff, manages food and labor costs, maintains survey readiness, and drives operational and quality improvements.

  • Oversees daily hospital cafeteria, retail food service, and culinary operations.
  • Leads, schedules, trains, and develops dietary and food service staff.
  • Ensures compliance with HACCP, food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains readiness for health inspections, regulatory surveys, and internal audits.
  • Manages departmental budgets, food and labor costs, purchasing, inventory, and waste reduction.
  • Monitors food quality, production, presentation, merchandising, and customer service standards.
  • Oversees vendor relationships, inventory controls, and food production planning.
  • Uses operational metrics and customer feedback to drive quality and process improvements.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) or more years of food service experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification or obtained within 30 days of hire
Preferred Job Requirements:
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, Food Service Management, or related field
  • Experience in healthcare or institutional food service
  • Experience managing retail operations and budgets
