Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Project Lead to lead the design and delivery of telecommunications infrastructure projects supporting large-scale data center environments. This role is ideal for a technical professional who excels at managing multiple projects while providing leadership in the design of structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and telecommunications infrastructure.
As a Telecommunications Project Lead, you will oversee projects from concept through completion, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, BIM designers, project managers, vendors, and clients to deliver high-quality, standards-compliant solutions. You will also mentor junior team members while ensuring projects remain on schedule, within budget, and aligned with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and execution of telecommunications systems for data center facilities.
  • Design and oversee structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Support the design of wireless, audiovisual (AV), security, and other low-voltage systems.
  • Coordinate and provide technical guidance to BIM designers during engineering drawing development.
  • Prepare, review, and modify Division 27 Telecommunications Specifications.
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and support project execution.
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables for quality and accuracy.
  • Manage multiple concurrent telecommunications projects while maintaining schedules and deadlines.
  • Develop project budgets and maintain project schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate effectively with engineers, architects, project managers, contractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and substitution requests.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry standards and codes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous team development.
Required Skills/Education
  • Technical degree or Associate's degree from an accredited institution (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing or leading telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience with structured cabling systems in commercial or data center environments.
  • Solid knowledge of ANSI/TIA telecommunications standards.
  • Working knowledge of BICSI standards and telecommunications best practices.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) as it relates to telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience coordinating engineering documentation using Navisworks or similar BIM coordination software.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including:
    • Project planning
    • Budget development
    • Schedule management
    • Risk identification and mitigation
  • Experience responding to RFPs, RFIs, submittals, and technical documentation requests.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • RCDD certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
