Senior Technical Program Manager - Chicago

Volta

Chicago, IL

Full-time

Job description

About The Role

The Senior Technical Program Manager owns end-to-end program management for complex, cross-functional initiatives across Volta\'s platform and delivery organisations. This role is based at Volta\'s site in Chicago. You will coordinate dependencies across engineering, delivery, and DSX teams, translating strategic priorities into structured plans, tracked milestones, and delivered outcomes.

This is a role for someone who thrives on bringing order to complexity — working across multiple fast-moving teams to make sure the right things happen in the right order, without losing sight of the bigger picture.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Own program plans across cross-functional initiatives spanning platform engineering, delivery, and DSX teams

  • Identify and manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and blockers before they impact timelines

  • Drive program governance: status reporting, milestone tracking, and executive updates

  • Facilitate planning, prioritisation, and trade-off discussions across stakeholder groups

  • Build and maintain program documentation, roadmaps, and communication cadences

  • Partner with engineering and delivery leads to translate strategy into executable plans

  • Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement in how programs are run

  • Support post-program retrospectives and feed learnings into future planning

What You Bring
  • Significant experience in technical program management, ideally within infrastructure, cloud, or hardware-adjacent environments

  • Strong grasp of software and/or infrastructure delivery lifecycles

  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills

  • A track record driving complex, multi-team programs to on-time delivery

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity and structuring it into clear plans

  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
