Job description

The Senior Applications Systems Analyst position is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, development, deployment, and support of data-driven applications, analytics platforms, and research systems. The role focuses on developing secure, scalable solutions for data collection, processing, integration, analysis, and reporting, while supporting complex research and business requirements. This position works closely with stakeholders to define system objectives, analyze requirements, and implement innovative solutions using modern software engineering and data science practices.

The incumbent also serves as a mentor, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing to team members. To be successful in this position, the individual must possess strong expertise in Python development, data analysis, data engineering, and scientific computing. Experience with Python libraries and frameworks such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Jupyter, and related data science tools is highly desirable.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working in Linux environments, using command-line interfaces (CLI), container technologies such as Docker, and modern development workflows. Experience with relational databases, cloud platforms, API development, version control, and automated deployment processes is also important. Familiarity with research, healthcare, or large-scale data platforms and experience working in agile development environments would be considered assets.

This position may also be asked to serve as a technical lead or product owner. Minimum $106,500 - Midpoint $133,000 - Maximum $159,500 Work Location: 100% remote within Texas, with onsite presence in the medical center a few times per month. Prefer a local candidate.
